With freedom comes challenges.

Finally, you have all this freedom and can make your schedule instead of being forced to stick to one set by others. There are many new options, like meeting new people outside the small group available to you in your circles at school or with your family.

For the first time, you can decide who you want to be, how to spend your money, and what kind of life you want to create for yourself.

The problem is that you never learned how to make these things happen while growing up. Everyone acts as if it’s so easy to create a good work/life balance. In addition, no one prepared you for how hard it can be to develop and sustain relationships as an adult – never mind how exhausting dating can be, regardless of whether you’re using apps.

Moreover, you’re still trying to sort through the pain that your past dumped on you – the traumas caused by people and situations that you didn’t have any control over.

There are skills you need but don’t have.

It’s completely unfair that you spent the first chunk of your life letting others tell you how and what you should be and do and then leaving you to figure out the rest on your own.

Without the skills to make these most critical decisions, how are you supposed to know how to manage your emotions, make life plans, or ensure the past stays in the past?

You might know what you don’t want for your life, but the things you wish to feel distant and difficult to attain without some roadmap.
